Clarice S. Wood, formerly of Sayre, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Canterbury Place Skilled Nursing Facility in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born to Perley and Elma Sturdevant Sivers in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, PA on December 21, 1920. Clarice was the longest-lived of her four brothers and sister. Clarice was a graduate of Laceyville High School in 1938 and a graduate of Robert Packer Hospital of Nursing in 1944. She was married to Eldyn Wood for more than 45 years until his death in 1991. She worked over 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Robert Packer Hospital in many areas including the operating room, post-anesthesia recovery, and nursing recruiting. Clarice was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Sayre and most recently attended Waverly United Methodist Church. She was a Volunteer at Robert Packer Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and the Red Cross. She enjoyed working crosswords, traveling, crocheting, babysitting, and following the news. Clarice was able to live independently into her 90s. Clarice is the mother of Charles Wood of Pittsburgh and David Wood of North Wales, and mother-in-law to Nancy Wood of Pittsburgh. She is the beloved grandmother of Amy Wood of North Wales and part of inspiration for her nursing career. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 10am – 12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12pm with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating.
