Obituary of Phillip B. Bowman

Philip B. Bowman, 83, of Sayre, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1932 in Meshoppen, PA the son of the late Addison and Nora Humphery Bowman. Philip was an Iron Worker and loved his job, retiring after 40 years. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a Charter Member of the Sayre American Legion Post #283, where he served as the Sargent of Arms and Board Member, he was an active member of the Skiff-Bower Post # 1536. Philip loved his granddaughters, great-granddaughter, and great-grandson. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley Bowman in 2013, and his brothers Jack, Ed, and Terry. Philip is survived by his children Cathy Seck and John White of Sayre, PA and Philip and Jeanine Bowman of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Bobbi Jo Seck and her fiancée Greg DeHann, Candi Jo Seck Arnold and her husband Bryce, and Kayla Marie and Jeremiah Stone, great-grandchildren Bree Arnold and Weston Stone, sister Karen Miessner, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 4pm-6pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 6pm with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Philip’s memory to the Sayre American Legion, 171 Cayuta Street, Sayre, PA 18840.
