Ronald E. "Ron" Fassett, Sr., 77, of Sayre, PA (Athens Township) passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on February 10, 1938 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Owen H. and Mabel Robinson Fassett. Ron was a Veteran of the US Army. Ron was a lifetime member of the Athens Township Fire Company, Captain of the Fire Police, and served many hours volunteering at the fire hall for numerous functions. He was a recipient of the Fire Police of the Year in 2010, and was a past member of the Bradford County Fire Police. Ron worked for the IR, Endless Mountain Transportation Authority, John H. Murray and Son and Wegmans Bridge Builders. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Mets. He is predeceased by his son Ronald E. Fassett, Jr., granddaughter Kiersta Fassett, brother Owen Henry Fassett, Jr., sister Carolyn Gross, and nephew Todd Gross. Ron is survived by his wife Roberta of 54 years at home; son and daughter-in-law Rob and Dee Fassett of Waverly, NY; grandchildren Amber Fassett, Brionna Fassett, and Brandon Lane, great grandchildren Colton Fassett, sister and brother-in-law Alona Kenneth Roberts of Philadelphia, PA, sister Janet Bidlack of Sayre, PA, several nieces, nephews, and special cousin Alan Fassett. Friends and family may call Friday, December 11, 2015 from 12 noon to 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 2pm with Revs. Linda Rogers and Kenneth Crain officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
