Robert "Bobby" C. Keene, 83, of Waverly, NY passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on December 10, 1932 in Waverly, NY the son of the late Robert David and Florence Garlow Keene. Bobby was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and worked at the IR in Athens as a laborer prior to retiring. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his beloved dog Teddy. Bobby was an avid fisherman, especially at Seneca Lake, an avid gambler; enjoyed going to Tioga Downs, painting pictures and enjoyed his time camping at the Hornbrook Campground. He was a member of the VFW of Waverly, American Legion Waverly, and the Cayuta Hose Fire Company, Waverly, NY. He is predeceased by his Parents, Sister Betty Jean Keene, Sister Ina Mae Wood, a special Uncle Gene Keene, Uncle Frank Keene, sister in law Marlene Keene, and brother in law John Ward. Robert is survived by his faithful companion of 30 years Beverly Ervin; his children Dez and Jodi Keene of Salt Lake City, UT, Robin and Alfred Maxwell of Albion, NY and Diana and Nils Sherman of Van Etten, NY; grandchildren Christa Bailey of CA, Josh and Eric Keene, Nikki and Chris Jamison of Newfield, NY, Christopher Sherman of Elmira, NY, Jessica Maxwell of Athens, PA, Paul Gesford, Jr. of Athens, PA, Candace and Jason Goldberg of Erie, PA; great grandchildren Shaylee, Alexis, Austin, Maverick, Connor, Kaden, Darcy, Jackson, Emersyn, Grayson, Rowan, and his name sake Rourke Charles; siblings and in-laws Richard Keene of Waverly, NY, Ronald (Janet) Keene of Waverly, NY, Ann Marie Ward of South Waverly, PA and Russ (Shirley) Keen of Athens, PA; and Beverly's family William, Jr. and Debbie Ervin of Ulster, PA, Bonnie and Craig Alderman of Athens, PA, Mike Ervin of Athens, PA, Allen and Barb Ervin of Milan, PA, Tammy and John Blackman of Sayre, PA, James and Laurie Ervin of Athens, PA, Robin Ervin of Sayre, PA and their families. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 1-2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 2pm with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.
