My condolences to the family. Joe was one of the most caring members of the Vallley EMS and a great mentor when I served as a member and newly certified EMT many years ago. I have many fond memories of responding to calls and having Joe beside me keeping everyone calm, focused and in the right frame of mind to complete the tasks at hand. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Peggy and Melanie I am so so sorry about Joe.. He was truly a one of a kind man... Joe had a heart of gold, an abundance of moxy, and to his SCCA friends who found him countless times volunteering at registration, the rest of him seemed to be made entirely of robust welcomes and helping hands. And then he would go into action all weekend, working to keep us safe. My respects and condolences to Peggy and the rest of Joe's family; he will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Peggy and family - I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He will be missed by so many in this world. He has touched so many people over the years, including myself. When I had my bike accident in 1988 Joe was one of my first visitors during my stay. He came in with one of his Guard Bears to help me with my stay. That is something I will never forget, I still have my rules. For many years after that he would take me out to lunch for my birthday. I will never forget I for some reason wanted to go to the Treadway in Owego for their Sunday Brunch (more then likely because I heard they had Belgian Waffles LOL) but he didn't even bat an eye. He made our date and when Sunday came around we went to Owego to our Brunch. I still cherish the ID Bracelets he got me as well as a beautiful Gold Fan necklace he gave me. Whenever I saw him, even if he wasn't feeling good he had a smile that could light up a room and a hug for me followed by I have known her since she was this big. Rest well my friend, or as I always called him Bear. You will never be forgotten.
