Obituary of Sandra Bergman
Sandra H. Worthington Bergman, 64, of Sayre, PA went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 31, 2011 at home following a brief illness.
She was born on December 7, 1946 in Troy, PA the daughter of Clyde and Harriet Lucille Wittig Hadley.
Sandy was raised in the Blossburg area, graduating from North-Penn High School and Mansfield State College. Having obtained her degree in Library Science, she served as Elementary School Librarian for the Sayre School District for 41 years. She took great pride in having been a firefighter for the Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company, also serving as secretary. Sandy enjoyed the hobby of geocaching and logged 1,952 caches. She was an avid reader, who was especially fond of the Harry Potter series. Sandy loved her Bulldogs and her cats. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
She is predeceased by her first husband Franklin Worthington 1972, second husband Robert "Joe" Bergman 2008, father Clyde Hadley 2001, stepson Robert Bergman 1996, and stepdaughter Lena Fasser 1997.
Sandra is survived by her mother Lucille Hadley of Homestead, FL, sisters BettyLou (John) Hadley-Laird of Upper Darby, PA, LouAnne (John) Morales of Homestead, FL, brothers Clyde (Debby) Hadley of Sardis, OH, and Mark (Joan) Hadley of Homestead, FL, granddaughters Telissa Bergman of Alpine Junction, NY and Jennifer Bergman of Odessa, NY, great-granddaughter ZZ of Alpine Junction, NY, stepson Randy Bergman of Sayre, PA, stepdaughter Jenifer Bergman of Spokane, WA, sisters-in-law Donna (Jim) Signorino of Baltic, CT and Peggy (Mike) Beavers of Barton, NY, brothers-in-law Butch (Mona) Bergman of Broken Arrow, OK and Martin Bergman of Sayre, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Church of the Redeemer, 201 South Wilbur Avenue, Sayre, PA. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
