Evelyn E. (Dean) Shipman, 89, of Waverly, NY, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at ElderWood at Tioga. She was born on February 26, 1923 in Waverly, NY the daughter of the late Jessie and Edna Boyce Dean. Evelyn worked as Assembler/Painter at Manoic Toy Company and Supervisor/Housekeeper for O’Brien’s Inn, Waverly, NY beginning 1965, retiring November, 1983. She married Edwin C. Shipman on May 10, 1941and they recently celebrated their 71st Anniversary. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is predeceased by her sisters Luella Whittaker and Marjorie Wells, and brother Lloyd Dean. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 71 years Edwin at home, children Gerald E. (Phyllis) Shipman of Waverly, NY, Linda M. (Ronald) Tappan of Sayre, PA, and Dennis E. Shipman of Waverly, NY, grandchildren Jeannean Holland of Athens, PA, DeAnna Shipman of Waverly, NY, Donald Shipman of Lockwood, NY, Joseph Shipman of Sayre, PA, and Kathy Shipman of Jersey Shore, PA, great-grandchildren Kyle Holland of Spain, Travis Holland of WA, Joshua Rowe of Barton, NY, Ashley Rowe of Barton, NY, Brooke Shipman of Lockwood, NY, and Logan Shipman of Lockwood, NY, sisters Charlotte Collins of Cayuta, NY, and Loretta DeVine of Waverly, NY, brother Ronald Dean of Lockwood, NY, very special niece Janice Russell of NC, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 12pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. William Wells officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
