Obituary of Beatrice Shadduck
Beatrice A. Shadduck, lovingly known as "Gramma B", 98, of Athens, PA passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1914 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of the late Timothy and Mabel Watson Bride.
Beatrice was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Church and now a member of the Church of the Epiphany. She belonged to the Legion of Mary and the Altar and Rosary Society. Beatrice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and was known for her beautiful smile. She enjoyed crocheting. She was employed at the Silk Mill in Athens and later worked at Sylvania, retiring in 1984 at 70 years old. Beatrice was a member of the Sylvania Women’s Club.
She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years Earl M. Shadduck, son John Shadduck, daughter Dena King, daughter-in-law Marlene Shadduck, brothers Eugene and Bernard "Bud" Bride, and sisters Helen Hoffman and Ann and Agnes Bride.
Beatrice is survived by her children Dona Solomon of Hilton Head, SC, Mabel Elizabeth Nadler of Boca Raton, FL, Mary Teresa and Thomas St. Claire of Newport, RI, Michael and Yaping Shadduck of Shrewsbury, MA, and Joseph Shadduck of Braintree, MA, 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 6pm – 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 9:30am at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 South Elmer Ave., Sayre, PA with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.
Burial will be Epiphany Cemetery.
