Obituary of Katherine Furman

Mrs. Katherine Furman, 89, of Sayre, passed away quietly Saturday, November 24, 2012, at home after a lengthy illness. The former Katherine Fenimore was born in Waverly, NY, March 17, 1923 to Willard and Verna Norconk Fennimore. Katherine was very active with Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry and as a Volunteer at the Robert Packer Hospital. She held various offices with Senior Citizen and PTA Groups along with Cub Scout and Brownie Organizations. When she wasn’t volunteering, Katherine enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing cards. She is believed to have been the longest continuous serving member of the Saint John Lutheran Church, Sayre, PA, having been confirmed Easter Sunday at the age of 12. She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years Allan Furman, brothers John and William Fenimore and sister Alice Daily. Katherine is survived by her son Paul D. (Patricia) Furman of Pembroke, MA, daughter Mary L. Furman of Cherry Hill, NJ, two grandchildren Michele M. Perry and Brian J. Furman, two great-grandchildren Sarah and David Perry, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 10am – 11am at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 South Hopkins Street, Sayre, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Church at 11am with the Rev. Alexandra "Lexa" Liepe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Katherine’s memory to: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 207 South Hopkins Street, Sayre, PA 18840.
