Obituary of Harry Winslow

Harry L. Winslow, 92, of Athens, PA passed away on August 9, 2012 at Dar-Way Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born on August 28, 1919 the son of the late Harvey L. and Lillian Garey Winslow. Harry was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a Member of the Owego Church of the Nazarene. Harry was a Veteran of WWII, having served with the Army Air Corps, and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He worked as a Machinist at Ingersoll Rand, Athens, PA. Harry was an avid gardener and enjoyed making dog houses. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Iona in 2003, granddaughter Kim Winslow, and sister Frances Winslow. Harry is survived by his children Richard and Judy Winslow of Milan, PA and Joyce and Howard Schmidt of Elmira Heights, NY, grandchildren Penny Graninger, Jim Winslow, Connie Manberg, David Schmidt, Joshua Schmidt, and Angie Fischer, great-grandchildren Dawn and Laura Graninger, Miranda Manberg, and Nathan and Rosemarie Fischer, sister Naomi Oliver of Rome, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2pm – 3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 3pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Montague from the Waverly Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Harry’s memory to the: Guthrie Cancer Research Program, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
