Obituary of Brett Casselbury

Brett Jason Casselbury, 33, beloved son of Diane (Barry) McCann and Donald (Pam) Casselbury of Waverly, NY died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 22, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident while on his way home for Christmas. He was born on January 26, 1979 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Elmira, NY. All of his family and friends loved Brett, he was one of the nicest and kindest people God ever put on this earth. He never complained and never asked for much, all he needed was his love of his family. We will never know why he was taken from us so quickly but one thing is for sure if there was ever an angel born it was Brett. His smile and laughter will be so greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Brett resided at the Hoffman Street Group Home through the Chemung ARC during the week. On the weekends and every Holiday, he came home to his loving mother’s endless care. He loved being home and spending time with his family. His most prized possession was his Kawasaki 4-wheeler. He would ride for hours in his uncle’s field and then he would take his mom for rides over to visit his cousins’. Brett also loved riding his snowmobile and mowing his aunt and uncle’s lawn. Brett loved when his brother Chad and his nephew Kaiden would come to visit him. They would bring their dog Freckles. Brett loved all animals, especially his dogs MacDog and Copper, who recently passed away. Brett liked going to his dad’s house and working with him on his 1933 Chevy. He loved watching his cousins Jim and Rick Hand race their street stocks at several local tracks. Brett was an avid NASCAR fan and every August his Uncle John took him to Watkins Glen. Wherever his Uncle John was, Brett was not far behind. Brett graduated from Fassett School, Elmira, NY in 2000. He worked at Southern Tier Industries and Seneca Beverage, and recently returned to Southern Tier Industries. He loved to bowl, was in Boy Scouts, and enjoyed ARC dances with his friends. Brett loved Christmas and parties, he was looking forward to his 34th birthday party, and he knew that everyone came to his parties. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents John and Bea Miller, paternal grandparents Walter and Harriet Casselbury, great maternal grandparents Charles and Leona Bennett, great aunt and uncle Nellie and Bob Ash, and uncle Ray Casselbury.
