Alberta H. Hakes Rowe Parshall Ziats, 86, formerly of East Athens, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Bradford County Manor following an extended illness. She was born on October 13, 1926 in New Albany, Pa the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Talada Hakes. Alberta was an active member of the Athens Wesleyan Church. She was also active in the East Athens Community Hall. Alberta will be remembered as being a faithful friend who visited those who were home bound and as a babysitter to many Valley children. She is predeceased by her husbands’ Paul Rowe, Norris Parshall, and John Ziats, brothers Elmer Hakes, Charles Hakes, George Hakes, Ray Hakes, Floyd Hakes, and sister Kay Brewer. Alberta is survived by her children Keith Rowe of Sayre, PA, Tom and Barbara Rowe of Pavilion, NY, and Cliff Parshall of Sayre, PA, stepchildren Jon and Peg Parshall of Athens, PA and James Parshall of Wilawana, PA, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, sister Peggy Gleckner of Elmira, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 11am – 12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 12pm with the Rev. David Larson from the Athens Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA following the Memorial Service.
