Helen Frances Erb, 87, of Barton, NY passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Fish Memorial Hospital, Orange City, FL following an extended illness. She was born on July 28, 1925 in Athens, PA the daughter of the late Gerald A. and Beatrice M. Post Young. Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Helen was a waitress at Yanuzzi’s Restaurant for many years and worked at Cheney’s Corner Cupboard in Sayre, PA, until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, walking on the beach and shopping at her favorite dollar store. Christmas was Helen’s favorite time of year. She is predeceased by her husband William, sister Mary M. Phillips, brothers-in-law Ed Phillips, Donald Patterson, and nephew Don Patterson. Helen is survived by her children William (Susan) Erb of Federal Way, WA, Richard (Sue) Erb of Murfreesboro, TN, Pamela (Rick) Woods of Barton, NY, and Melissa (Jim) Jacques of Winslow, ME, grandchildren Chris (Julie) Erb, Billy Erb, Jennifer Erb, Kelly Erb, Kaitlyn Erb, Michael and Jamie Winters, Nicholas (Jessica) Woods, Michael (Rachel) Jacques, and Thomas (Brooke) Jacques, great-grandchildren Christian and Ashton Erb, and Hunter Woods, siblings Emery (Joan) Young of FL, Fred (Lucy) Young of Horseheads, NY, Louis (Geraldine) Young of Waverly, NY, and Reva (Leo) Cardi of Athens, PA, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friend and companion Everett Potter of Orange City, FL. Friends and family may call on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 12pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with the Rev. Donna Taylor Martin officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Helen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
