Obituary of Erma Winnick

Erma Winnick, 86, passed away Friday, March 9, 2013 at ElderWood at Tioga, Waverly, NY following an extended illness. She was born February 27, 1927 in Athens, PA to the late Don and Inez Williams Grippin. Erma drove school bus for over 30 years and was a 50 year member of Waverly Presbyterian Church, and was a life-long resident of Waverly, NY. She is predeceased by her two husbands John Winnick and Herbert Crone, brother Donald, sister Ethyl who died in childhood, and brother-in-law, Herbert Roth. She is survived by her two daughters that she raised Nancy Jo (Bruce) Miller of Gillett, PA and Denise (John) Spaulding of Waverly, NY, her 8 grandchildren that love her and will miss her: Lee, Scott, Rene`, Glen, Chris, Nick, Prudence, and Brett, and 10 great-grandchildren: Grace, Jacob, Daniel, Tatiana, Cody, Adam, Thomas, Hannah, Erin and Amanda, her sister Irene Roth of Keene, Texas, and brother Burt (Sylvia) Grippin of Spencer, NY, special friends, Connie and Jack Ellis of Waverly, and she leaves many close friends that will miss her. Friends and family will gather at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 4pm-6 pm. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 6pm with the Rev. Dale Francis and the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel co-officiating. As the family wishes to send a special thanks for all the loving care Erma received during her time at Elderwood, they request donations be left in her name at ElderWood, 37 North Chemung Street, Waverly, NY 14792.
