Obituary of Edward Kunkler
Edward W. "Ed" Kunkler, 89, of Sayre, PA passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He was born on March 16, 1923, Sayre, PA the son of the late Christian and Dora Orshal Kunkler.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during WWII, fought at the Remagen Bridge where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. Ed was a Certifed Watch Maker and worked at O’Neill Jewelry Store, and was employed at IBM, Owego and held 11 patents while employed there. He was a former member of the Sayre Borough Council, served on the Valley Joint Sewer Authority, and was a member of the Valley Barber Shop Chorus and a Quartet. Ed was a member of the Epiphany Church and Choir for over 60 years. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 17 at Epiphany Church for many years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
He is predeceased by his brothers Richard, Fred, and Wilson, and sisters Margaret, Dorothy, and Gertrude.
Edward is survived by his wife of 66 years Margaret at home, son David (Cathleen) of Nichols, NY, and granddaughter "Princess" Elizabeth.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 9:30am at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 South Elmer Ave., Sayre, PA.
Burial will be in Epiphany Cemetery, Sayre, PA.
Memorial donations may be made in Edward’s memory to the Music Program at Epiphany School, 627 Stevenson Street, Sayre, PA 18840.
