Obituary of William Robbins

William E. Robbins, Sr., 74, of Chemung, NY passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Bill was born on November 16, 1938 in Barton, NY, son of the late Charles S. and Mildred (Depew) Robbins. Bill worked as a machinist for Morse Chain, Ithaca, NY and R•WIREworks, Inc., Elmira, NY before retiring. He was a Life Member of the DADS of Foreign Service Veterans (D.F.S.V.) VFW Skiff-Bower Post No 1536. He enjoyed camping, dancing, bowling, gardening, his family, and tinkering. Bill is predeceased by his brothers Charles (Art) Robbins, Louis Robbins; and Norman Robbins, sister Louise Ennis, and sister-in-law Roberta Robbins. Bill is survived by his wife Sandra (Curren) Robbins at home; sons: William E (Bonnie) Robbins Jr. of Bel Air, MD, John J Robbins of Huntingdon, PA, Randy L (Shelly) Robbins Sr. of Waverly, NY, and Scott B (Kim) Robbins of Wellsboro, PA; step-children: Mellissa Whitney of Lexington Park, MD, Theresa (Russell) Ellers of Waverly, NY; Christy (Josh) McNeely of Colorado Springs, Co, and Chad (Leanna) Whitney of Lockwood, NY; 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brother Franklin D Robbins of Waverly, NY; sisters: Shirley I Howard of Montclair, VA, Ida M Shipman of Smithboro, NY, Charlotte A Petty of Rome, PA, and Patricia E (Wade) Phelan of Endicott, NY; sisters in-law Arlene Robbins of Raymond, NH and Mary Robbins of Waverly, NY; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 1–3 p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, Pa. A celebration of Bill’s life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Rogers officiating.
