James H. Newill, Jr., 77, of VanEtten, NY passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital. James was born on April 17, 1935 in Ridley Park, PA the son of the late James H., Sr. and Marie Monroe Newill. James was a member of the Spencer Federated Church, where he served in many capacities. He was instrumental in starting the community food cupboard. James was employed as a Rural Postal Letter Carrier, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a member of National Rural Letter Carriers. He was a train and railroad enthusiast. He is predeceased by his wife Nancy. James is survived by his children David and Pat Newill of Bensalem, PA, Robin Seymour of Rocky Point, NY, Jane and Walter Smithbower of Ebensburg, PA, June Newill of Mastic Beach, NY, Tom and Rhonda Newill of Spencer, NY, and Robert E. and Sharon Decker of Horseheads, NY, 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Jerry Burnett of Towanda, PA and their children Tom, Patty, Penny, and Todd, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 5pm at the Spencer Federated Church, 70 North Main Street, Spencer, NY with the Rev. Delma West and the Rev. Burton Huth co-officiating. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11am at Union Cemetery, East Smithfield, PA with the Rev. Delma West and the Rev. Burton Huth co-officiating.
