Obituary of Gary Payne

Gary L. Payne, 61, of Sayre, PA passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at home following an extended illness. He was born on January 5, 1952 in Barton, NY the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth House Payne. Gary was a well-respected and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was proud of his family and always involved in his boys and grandchildren’s activities. Gary would always help anyone in need, regardless of the time or expense and would never take anything in return. He would always listen without passing judgment. He was a skilled wood worker and electrician. He was formerly employed with Hagen Pet Foods. Gary was an Honorary Member of the American Legion Post #283, Milltown. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Bucky Moon, Richard Heffron, and Robert Benjamin, and sister-in-law Berneida Dhuy. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Barbara Payne at home, children Christopher and Janice Payne of Erie, PA, and David Payne and significant other Jamie Bradley of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Alexander, Haley, Dylan, and Skylynn Payne, siblings and in-laws Donna Moon of Owego, NY, Terry and Colleen Payne of Rochester, NY, Lori Mclinko of Sayre, PA, Andrea and Richard Williams of Waverly, NY, and Mark Payne of New York, NY, brother-in-law and spouse Raymond Heffron and Ronald Crump of Ithaca, NY, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved dog Pixie "Spike". Friends and family may call on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 11:30am – 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 1pm with Pastor Arnie Johnson from the Harvest House Community Fellowship officiating.
