Mary M. Springer, 97, of Sayre, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. She was born on September 6, 1915 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late William and Lillie Wheatley Anderson. Mary’s faith was the center of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She attended the North Waverly Chapel and was always involved in church activities. Mary was the Supervisor of Food Services at Sayre High School for 20 years, retiring on September 6, 1975. She enjoyed crocheting and cross stitch. She is predeceased by her husband Russell in 2000, daughter Mary Ann Williams, sister Thelma Burke, and brothers Harold Anderson and Eugene Anderson.. Mary is survived by her children Peggy and Philip Hartung of Durham, NC, and Judy and Dan Twigg of Rochester, NY, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 1pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with the Rev. William Wells officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
