Louise Lantz Hess, 83, of Athens Twp., PA passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. She was born on December 21, 1929 in Athens, PA, the daughter of the late Bert and Veva Cole Lantz. Louise was employed by Athens Area School District, retiring after 28 ½ years of dedicated service. Her life surrounded her family. Louise in her early years was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church and a member of the Matrons. On May 27, 1946, she married the love of her life, Harold L. Hess, and in 2012 they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Louise enjoyed family gatherings and picnics, playing cards, going for rides, flower gardening, and she enjoyed gardening, especially digging potatoes. She is predeceased by her daughter Connie L. Hess, and son Eric S. Hess. Louise is survived by her beloved husband Harold at home, sons Alton R. (Nancy) Hess of Millport, NY, Preston L. (Rita) Hess of Seattle, WA, and daughter Debbie K. (Pat) Bailey of Towanda, PA, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 5:30pm with the Rev. John Musser from the Pilgrim Holiness Church and the Rev. William Wells co-officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
