Obituary of Eleanor Coleman
Oh God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
Eleanor L. Coleman, 89, of South Waverly, PA, born January 6, 1924, went to be with her Lord in heaven on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
She was born in Shenandoah, PA and graduated from Cherry Township High School in Mildred, PA. She attended State Beauty School in Williamsport, PA and worked at Weldon’s Pajama Factory in Dushore, PA.
In 1946, she married Carl Coleman of Mildred, PA. They moved to the Valley in 1954 where she was a Waitress at Yanuzzi’s Restaurant for 29 years until her retirement. Following retirement, she helped out at Reese’s Family Restaurant in South Waverly.
She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sayre where she served on the Church Council and on the Boyd Beagle Trust Fund; she chaired the weekly fellowship hour and the funeral dinners offered by St. John for many years. She was also a past member of the Altar Guild. Her church family was a great joy in her life.
Eleanor loved being around people, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. She also loved caring for her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, Gregory and Anna Wachaus Cicioni.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 67years Carl at home, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Eric Fagner of Athens, PA, son David Coleman of South Waverly, PA, grandchildren Michael (Jessica) Murphy of Elmira, NY and Corinne (Phillip) McCarty of Fort Mill, SC, great-grandchildren Brianna Murphy, Jaryd and Brandon McCarty, sister Frances Rosenberry of Dushore, PA, brother Rudy (Frances) Chick of Muscatine, IA, sister-in-law Rosemarie Ottaviani and husband Robert of Wyalusing, PA, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends the Yanuzzi family, Charlie and Sandy Reese and Janice Donald.
A Memorial Service will be held April 26, 2013 at 1:00pm at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 South Hopkins Street, Sayre, PA with the Rev. Alexandria Liepe officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
