Phyllis Martin Adam, 84, of Eugene, OR, formerly of Sayre, PA, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Emerald Valley Assisted Living Residence, Eugene, OR after her courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on August 2, 1928 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Abraham and Florence Mills Martin. Phyllis attended Sayre Schools and graduated from Sayre High School. She was always known for being detail oriented, and worked as a bookkeeper in the flooring industry. Phyllis was a loving mother and was appreciated for her efforts at making backyard ice skating rinks in the cold, snowy Buffalo winters. She was happily married to John Jacob Adam, her husband of 43 years, until the time of his passing in 1994. She then met her loving partner, Vincent "Vinnie" Calderone, whom they spent many happy years together prior to her passing. She resided in Sayre, PA, Buffalo, NY, Pompano Beach, FL and Eugene, OR. Phyllis enjoyed golfing and dancing. She will be missed by her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband John J. Adam in 1994 and nephew Martin Smith. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Lisa M. Adam of Eugene, OR and son John (Heidi) Adam of Wenham, MA, grandchildren Sadie A. Boyers of Tacoma, WA, Johanna L. Boyers of Eugene, OR, Alexandra Adam of Boston, MA, loving partner Vincent "Vinnie" Calderone of Pompano Beach, FL, and sister Janice Merena. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11am at Tioga Point Cemetery 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating. The family is being assisted by the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
