Obituary of Jean Howe

Joan S. Howe, 68, of Burlington, PA, formally of Athens, PA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June; 4, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. She was born on January 26, 1945 in Malden, MA the daughter of the late Arthur R., Sr. and Mildred I. Swenson Pyke. Joan enjoyed being outdoors and loved her Labrador Retrievers. She was always on the go and would help anyone in need. Joan and her husband traveled spending time doing children Evangelism, using ventriloquism and felt graph for teaching. In 1979, they moved from Texas to Burlington, PA where they ran a Custodial Business, retiring in 2000. She is predeceased by her husband Eugene S. Howe and sister Marjorie Cairens. Joan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Marie Howe of Ashley, PA, grandchildren Jamie (Edward) Linski of Laceyville, PA, Nicole (Nathan) Cassellbury of Monroeton, PA, and Derek Fassett (Mandy Brown) of Towanda, PA, great-grandchildren Sammy Knolles, Aliya Fassett, Colten Linski, Kiera Cassellbury, and Cooper Linski, great-great-granddaughter Braelyn Cobb, sister Ruth Barnabe of CO, brother Arthur Pyke, Jr. of Canada, niece Sara Diaz and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2pm at the Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street, Elmira, NY with the Rev. Chris Gray officiating from Greater Valley Assembly of God. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s memory to: Stray Haven, 194 Shephard Road, Waverly, NY 14892.
