Kathryn M. Loomis, 90, of Athens, PA passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Robert Packer Hospital peacefully but unexpectedly. She was born at home at 111 East 8th Street, Elmira Heights, NY on September 26, 1921 the daughter of the late Michael and Betsy Kostick Hayduk. Kathryn was a beloved mother, devoted wife, and respected grandmother. She remained in her home until the time of her death. Her wisdom, optimism, and continued interest in current events both locally and globally will be missed. She is predeceased by her first husband William H. McDonald, and second husband Sidney R. "Bud" Loomis. Kathryn is survived by her children James W. and Kathleen Estabrook McDonald of Hop Bottom, PA, Rosemary L. and Jon Vermouth of Fort Collins, CO, and Sandra S. Tracey of Sarasota, FL, grandchildren Jake Loomis, Julie Ann McDonald-Beach, Krista Tracey-Gingras, William "Bill" P. McDonald, and Kabir Vermouth, great-grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, and Kaitlyn Beach, and Kathryn and Jack Carter Gingras, sister-in-law Betty Hayduk of Elmira, NY, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Graveside Service will be held at Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA, on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11am with Rev. Ralph from the Unitarian Church officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. Burial will be Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
