Gary Patrick Carlin of Sayre, PA most recently a resident of Bradford County Manor, Burlington, PA passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born on January 30, 1949 in Waverly, NY to the late Richard and Catherine (Furman) Carlin. Gary attended and graduated from Athens High School in 1963. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1967. On March 29, 1968, Gary married his wife, Laura Christi Allen. Gary enjoyed fishing; including trips to Fair Haven, NY with his two best friends and brother John as well as golfing, bowling, and making others smile. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Gary was predeceased by his grandparents George and Marguerite Furman and Ralph and Marie Carlin, brother Richard R. Carlin, Jr., grandson Michael Carlin, Jr. and great-grandson Gideon James Steem. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years Laura at home, aunt and uncle Peg and Ed Jones of Sayre, PA, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins. His son Stephen P. Carlin and his wife Kelly (Grace) of Athens and their combined children Chavva Harris and her son Isaiah Malcolm Harris, and her partner James Steem of Binghamton, NY, Stephen Carlin, Jr., Caelan and Bradley Carlin, Andrew Newton, and Trystan and Seeley Carlin. His daughter Jenni L. Baker and her husband Jeff Baker of Grantville, PA and her children Richard and Nancy (Sacks) Getchell and their sons Richard, Jr. and Ciaran Getchell of Lockwood, NY, Laurisa Getchell and her fiancé Quincy Evans and their daughter Ariyonni also of Grantville, PA, and twin daughters Megan of Sayre, PA and Jessi Getchell of Grantville, PA. His son, Louis G. Carlin and Rosemary Abrams of Athens, PA and their son Joshua Murphy and daughters Mykala and Karrigan. His daughter Von Carlin of Dubois, PA. His daughter Christina and her husband Colin R. Cole of Sayre, PA and their children Heather, Patrick and Allison. His son Michael C. Carlin and his wife Dora (Austin) of Athens, PA and their children Michele and Matthew. A Time of Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2 p.m. - 4p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Burial will be in New Era Cemetery, New Era, PA at the convenience of the family.
