Obituary of Lee Lantz

Lee Edward Lantz, Sr., 79, of Athens, PA, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on July 2, 1934 in Towanda, PA to the late Charles and Sarah Kunzman Lantz, the youngest of 8 children. Lee graduated from LeRaysville High School in 1952, playing on the high school basketball team while in school. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and served in the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Army, he played on their basketball team and was in the Morse Code International Unit. Lee married Gladys H. Wilkins on April 11, 1953 and they celebrated their 44th anniversary prior to her passing in February of 1998. He was employed with Ajax X-Ray Foundry as a Foreman for 37 years, retiring in 1998. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, Syracuse Football and Basketball fan, PennState fan, enjoyed watching golf on TV, especially Tiger Woods, and a NASCAR fan, cheering on Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed his flower gardens. Lee will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years Gladys, daughter Lynne Fuller, grandson Joshua Fuller, and siblings Alfred, Clifton, Marleah, Kate, William, Harriet, Charles, and infant brother Tracy. Lee is survived by his children Linda and Robert Park of Murfreesboro, TN, Laurie and Raymond Brooks of Ashland, VA, and Lee, Jr. and Carla Lantz of Nichols, NY, grandchildren Linda, Robert, Jr. and Jennifer, Lee, III and Angel, Whitney, Ashley, Christopher, Felicia, Evan, Stephanie, Josh, and Ariel, great-grandchildren Timothy, Madison, Rylee, Bailey, Krista, Chelsea, Maddox, Rylan, and Zachery, dear friends Fran Simko and her family, friends and neighbors of PeaceDale Mobile Home Court, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 10am – 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 11am with Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA with Military Honors. Memorial donations may be made in Lee’s memory to: Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848 for all their kindness and help given during Lee’s illness there are no words so please donate on behalf of others that need assistance.
