Obituary of James Irons
James W. "Jim" Irons, 65, of New Bedford, MA, formerly of Sayre, PA passed away on December 4, 2012 at home.
He was born November 5, 1947 in Waverly, NY the son of the late Raymond and Shirley Wood Irons.
Jim graduated from Sayre High School, Class of 1967, where he was known for his wrestling abilities. Jim retired from the U.S. Army as Staff Sergeant after many years of service. He served in the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. Jim was well known for his knowledge of electrical generation and using batteries. Jim was the owner of several patents for Battery Chargers, and Owned and Operated Future Power, Inc. He enjoyed fishing and was known for his painting of custom cars.
He is predeceased by his brothers Gary Irons and Raymond Irons, Jr.
James is survived by his daughter Trenna Cannavino of Athens, PA and son James W. Irons, Jr. of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Shawn Irons of Sayre, PA, Gage and Alectra Cannavino of Athens, PA, and Tyler Haines of Elmira, NY, sisters Helen Mead of Montrose, PA, Sandra Tobin of Columbia, SC, Judy Cannon of Goodwater, AL, Phyllis Lathrop of Oak Hill, OH, and Tammy Bennett of Mechanicsburg, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 2pm – 3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 3pm with the Rev. Jon Austin officiating..
