Obituary of Mitchell Ayers
Mitchell "Mitch" L. Ayers, 30, of Sayre, PA passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at home due to the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He was born on April 25, 1983 in Elmira, NY the son of Amber Thorpe.
Mitch was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the Outlaw Platoon and was deployed to Afghanistan. He was a loving father, son, and friend and enjoyed spending time especially with his children. He enjoyed being outdoors and 4-wheeling with his family and friends. Mitch enjoyed spending time in the man-cave playing pool, darts, and X-Box with his son Devin. He was a person that would help anyone in need and will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather Delmar Price and paternal grandparents Dean and Eleanor Ayers.
Mitchell is survived by his children Devin Ayers of Sayre, PA, Neavah Ayers of Bentley Creek, PA, Macayla Denton of NC, Gabrielle Johnson of Bentley Creek, PA and Kelsie Johnson of Bentley Creek, PA, mother and father Amber and William "Skip" Thorpe of Sayre, PA, maternal grandmother Martha "Marty" Price of Lowman, NY, siblings Marcia Ayers of FL, twin brother Michael Ayers of NY, Kandi DeLoach of Wysox, PA, Caitlan Arbogast of TN, Mark Ayers of TN, Brandon Alvarez of Sayre, PA, and his special baby sister Angel Thorpe of Sayre, PA, special cousin Wayne and Candace Floyd of Litchfield, PA several nieces, nephews, cousins, best friends Shannon and Alissa Crain of Sayre, PA, Cody Silkman of Sayre, PA, Brooke Grover of Sayre, PA, Jeremy and Rachel Lindsey of Sayre, PA, Mary Baker of Waverly, NY, Scott Greene of Sayre, PA, and Michael VanDyke of Sayre, PA, the mother of his son Regina Denton Ayers, the mother of his daughter Jodie Johnson, many other close friends and co-workers and his faithful companions Keita and Boots the Cat.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6pm – 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 8pm with the Rev. officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street, Elmira, NY on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10am with Military Honors.
Memorial donations may be made in Mitchell’s memory to the: Citizen’s and Northern Bank, 428 South Main Street, Athens, PA 18810 for the future education of his children, Devin and Neavah.
