Ida Mae Orshal, 94, of Sayre, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital following an unexpected illness. She was born on February 1, 1919 in Rome, PA the daughter of the late Leon and Elizabeth Davis Simons. Ida Mae graduated from Rome High School, class of 1938. She worked at Newberry’s Luncheonette, Sayre, PA for years as a cook. She enjoyed embroidering pillow cases for family members and going for rides in the car. She is predeceased by her sistera Charlotte Glickman and Loretta Benninger and brothers Earl Simons and Bill Simons. Ida Mae is survived by her children Roger Orshal of Nanicutt, CT, Richard and Sharon Orshal of Kenmore, NY, Nancy Snyder of Ithaca, NY, John Orshal of NC, Raymond Orshal of SC, and Maryann Chilson of Sayre, PA, 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 10am – 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 11am with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
