Obituary of Jerry Cain

Jerry "Jay" L. Cain, Jr., 48, of Trumansburg, NY, formerly of Athens, PA passed away Monday December 19, 2011 at home following an extended illness where he was lovingly cared for by his family. He was born on September 12, 1963 Circleville, OH the son of Jerry L., Sr. and Nancy L. Blemle Cain. Jay graduated from Athens Area High School in 1981, joined the U.S. Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist from 1984-1988, worked for Ithaca College as a Security Officer from 1988-1990, and a Patrol Officer from 1990-1993. He then went to work for the Village of Cayuga Heights as a Police Officer from 1993-2004. Some of Jay’s greatest joys in life was spending time with his family, whether it be eating double cheese whammies at Shorties, enjoying soft serve ice cream, watching Nebraska football or cheering on his favorite Cornell wrestling team. He is predeceased by his grandmother Naomi Gregory, grandfather Charles Blemle, uncle George Corl, and aunt Pat Corl. Jay is survived by his spouse of 14 years Laurenda Denmark at home, daughters Tori Cain of Dryden, NY, Taylor Cain of Dryden, NY, and a stepson Cameronallyn Denmark of Trumansburg, NY, mom Nancy "Squaw" Hudson of Sayre, PA, dad Jerry L. Cain, Sr. of Sayre, PA, brother Jeff Cain of San Jose, CA, sister Michele Cain of Waverly, NY and brother Jody (Trudy) Cain of Athens, PA, niece Tricia Bodine, nephew Cody Cain, and niece Charley Cain. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 3pm-6pm at the Joseph L. Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11am at McKee Memorial Chapel, 462 Fulton Street, Waverly, NY with Father John Tokaz officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA immediately following the services. The family would like to give a "heartfelt thank you" to Hospice of Tompkins County especially nurses Meg and Kathy for being with us whenever called upon and helping us through a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay’s memory to: The Hospice of Tompkins County, 172 E. King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 or to Cornell Federal Credit Union, 409 North Meadow Street, Ithaca, NY 14850-3226 for a college fund for his daughters, Tori and Taylor.
