John L. "Lyle" Morley, 72, of Athens, PA passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at home following an extended illness. He was born on December 12, 1940 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Herbert and Maude Knowles Morley. Lyle was a member of the Church of the Epiphany, Sayre. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Roma Madre Lodge #1342, Lifetime Member of the Athens Boro Fire Department, former member of the ELKS and Moose Clubs. Lyle volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, Athens Troop #1, Athens Little League, Athens A.S.A. Softball, and The Bridge. He served on the Athens Tree Planting Commission. He is predeceased by his brothers Herbert Morley and William Morley and sister Grace Bracken. Lyle is survived by his wife of 30 years Mary at home, son Timothy Morley of Athens, PA, daughter and son-in-law Mary Beth and Dennis Hricenak of Dickson City PA, grandchildren Natalie and Nicholas Hricenak, brothers and their spouses Victor and Lida Morley, Robert and Nancy Morley, Dean and Rose Morley, and James and Maririta Morley, sisters and their spouses Esther and Earl Geiger, Jean and Gene Fischer, sister Janet Readenour, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 1pm – 3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 9:30am at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 South Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA with the Rev. Bryan Wright officiating.
