Obituary of Retha Schrader

Retha May Rolfe Schrader, 89, of Towanda, PA passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on March 4, 1924 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Irvin R. and Eva Pollard Rolfe.
Retha lived in Ulster until 2 years of age when her family moved to a farm outside of Nichols, NY. She graduated from the Nichols School in 1942. Retha was known for her love of her family, flower gardening and made excellent pies. She married Clifford Schrader on July 4, 1942 in Marysville, GA. They moved to Windham (West Warren) in 1950 where they lived for 50 years. She was a 4-H leader for the Windham Center 4-H Club for many years.
She is predeceased by her parents Irvin R. and Eva Pollard Rolfe, brothers Henry, Carl, Kenny, and Donald Rolfe, sisters-in-law Alta Rolfe, Patricia Jenkins, Hilda Blair, and Lula Schrader.
Retha is survived by her children I. Ray and Toni Schrader of Zephyr Hills, FL and Sharon and Tom Horton of Towanda, PA with whom she resided, grandchildren Melissa and (Michael) Horton Brown of Hornbrook, PA, Michael (Michelle) Horton of Hornbrook, PA, Kenneth (Tia) Schrader of North Pole, AK, Kirk Schrader of Windham, PA, great-grandchildren Dean (Alicia) Brown of Allis Hollow, PA, Nathan and Keegan Brown of Hornbrook, PA, Nathan, Catelyn, Jacob and Bryce Schrader of North Pole, AK, and Devon, Ty, Michael, Jr. Horton of Hornbrook, PA, step-granddaughter Holly (Craig) Webdale of Charlotte, NC, step-grandson Carl (Bonnie) York of Safety Harbor, FL, step- great-grandchildren Sadie and Noah Webdale of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony, Joshua, Daniel, and Eli York of Safety Harbor, FL, great-great-granddaughters Harley and Skyler Brown of Allis Hollow, PA, sisters-in-law Marla Rolfe, Nellie Rolfe Burch, Lucy Rolfe, and Joanne Olmstead, brothers-in-law Thomas Jenkins and James Schrader, and several nieces and nephews.
As per Retha’s request there will be no services. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Memorial donations may be made in Retha’s memory to: Bradford County Humane Society, P.O Box 179, Ulster, PA 18850. A special thank you to Ashley Packard of the Area Agency on Aging and the ladies of Memorial Hospice of Towanda, PA.
