Obituary of Francis Williams

Only one life, it soon will pass, Only what’s done for Christ will last. On Thursday, September 26, 2013, Francis M. "Fran" Williams went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on October 11, 1927 to the late Orin D. and Blanche L. Newton Williams in New Albany, PA. Fran attended New Albany High School, and as a teen worked on many farms in the area and then became a milk delivery man. In 1953, he went to work as a Machinist at Ingersoll-Rand, Athens Plant until his health caused his early retirement in 1983. As was his passion, Francis was best known for loving and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Fran was member of the Athens Wesleyan Church since 1973, and an active cornerstone in the church, serving for decades as a greeter and usher. He also was in charge of the tape ministry, copying and delivering tapes of the Sunday services to shut-ins. He is predeceased by his brothers Edwin "Gene" Williams and Carl Williams, sisters Carmeta Lantz, Eleanora Williams, and Ola Mae Williams, brothers-in-law George Lantz and Joseph Lantz. Francis is survived by his wife of 40 years Patricia at home, children Marilu (Tiger) White of Waverly, NY, Vikki (Jim) Coombs of Athens, PA, John Allen of Waverly, NY, and Dan (Lori) Allen of Gillett, PA, grandchildren Paul W. Lane, Bryan Lane, Brandon Lane, Richard Lane, Ashley (Tom) Byrne, and Emily Coombs (Brandon Sweet), Tyler Allen (Alisha Meyers), great-grandchildren Brooklyn Kasson and Elexia Rae Sweet, sisters Rosemary Lantz of Middleburg, PA, sister-in-law Vida Williams of New Albany, PA and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 10am-11am at the Athens Wesleyan Church, 3903Wilawanna Road, Sayre, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 11am at the Church with the Rev. David Larson of Athens Wesleyan Church and Rev. Randy Stilson of Chemung Christian Fellowship co-officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Fran’s memory to the: Athens Wesleyan Church, 3903 Wilawanna, Road, Sayre, PA 18840.
