Mavis A. Pine, 57, of Athens, PA passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre with her family and close friends by her side following a brief illness. She was born on September 8, 1956 in Waverly, NY, the daughter of Alan D. and Ada M. Burke Pine. Mavis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandson, Josh whom she was very proud of and was the light of her life. She had a great sense of humor and was always ready to tease anyone in the room with her. Mavis cared about all she met and was always willing to help anyone. She was the manager of the Acorn Market, Athens, for 15 years, worked at Tioga Downs, and Dandy Mini Mart where she interacted with her customers and remained friends with many of them after leaving, and Mills Pride. Mavis was a past member of the Waverly Fire Police, volunteered as an EMT for the Sayre Ambulance Corps, and enjoyed attending the monthly breakfasts and Ham and Turkey Parties at Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company. She is predeceased by her dad Alan D. Pine and brother Paul Pine. Mavis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Amy and Ted, Jr. Pantle of Waverly, NY, grandson Josh Pantle of Waverly, NY, mom Ada M. Pine of Athens, PA, nephew and spouse Chad and Debbie Pine of ME, niece and spouse Sue and Rick Sinsabaugh of Sayre, PA several aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and special friends Sheila Fuller of ME, Patty Parr of Lockwood, NY, Jim and Linda Woodcock of Lockwood, NY, her beloved cat Miss Priss, many dear friends, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 11am – 1pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 1pm with the Rev. Linda Rogers officiating.
