Mary A. Zimmer, 95, of Sayre, PA passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at home. She was born on October 14, 1918 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Beeman and Maybelle Morton Besley. Mary was a 1936 graduate of Sayre High School. She worked for Sayre Lingerie and Paxar, retiring in 1980. Mary enjoyed bowling, knitting, gardening, baking, and canning. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Sayre Church of the Redeemer, Eastern Star, Past Matrons, and Robert Packer Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Robert Packer Hospital Gift Shop. She is predeceased by her husband Dennis G. Zimmer, Sr., 2006 and sisters Dora Brown and Lillis Wood. Mary is survived by her son Dennis G. Zimmer, Jr. and his fiancé Linda Coe, daughter Mary Zimmer Hoyt and her husband Claude, grandchildren Stephen Hoyt, Jeanne (Paul) Baird, Alan (Lou Ellen) Hoyt, Dennis (Dulcy) Zimmer III, and Daniel (Tammy) Zimmer, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Evelyn Gillette, and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11am with the Rev. Glenn Mahaffey officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
