Joyce Ann Dowd, 75, of Athens, PA passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1936 the daughter of the late Lawrence and Beatrice Keir Dowd. Joyce enjoyed attending family picnics at Round Top Park and other family events. Her life centered around her family. Joyce graduated from Athens Area High School in 1954 and then began her employment with Robert Packer Hospital as a Secretary for 44 years, retiring in 1998. She was a lifetime member of the Athens United Methodist Church and part of the 50 plus Membership. Joyce was well-known for her cooking abilities. She is predeceased by her sisters Florence Dowd and Dorothy Dowd Adee, and brother Donald Dowd. Joyce is survived by her sister Kathleen Dowd, niece Kimberley Adee of Worcester, NY, nephew, Raymond (Wendy) Adee of Schenevus, NY, great nephew Johnathan Adee of Schenevus, NY, aunt and uncle Ted and Evelyn Keir of Athens, PA, brother-in-law Phillip Adee of Worcester, NY, and several cousins. Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1pm - 3pm at the Athens United Methodist Church, 118 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Church at 3pm with the Rev. Martin Bovee officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
