Obituary of Gail Walrath

Gail B. Walrath, 60, December 24, 2011; we are celebrating the life of Gail Braund Walrath after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Gail was raised on a dairy farm in a small town of Wetona, PA with her parents Elwood and Leatrice Braund, brother Gary Braund and sister Trudy Braund Sheeley. She graduated from Troy High School in 1969 and then went to work in the East Smithfield Bank where she met her husband David Walrath. They were married on September 22, 1973 and together they managed the dairy operation of Snowcrest Farm. They have been married for 38 years and have a son Scott David Walrath and daughter Melissa Gail Walrath Beeman. Gail is being welcomed to her heavenly home by her Savior Jesus Christ and grandson Joshua Elwood Walrath. She is survived by her husband David E. Walrath, her son Scott Walrath, her daughter and son-in-law Wayne and Melissa Beeman; her grandchildren Sela and Simon Beeman and Ella Walrath; her parents Elwood and Leatrice Braund, her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Eunice Jo Braund; her sister and brother-in-law Trudy and Paul Sheeley, brother-in-law Dean Walrath, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and Richard Loomis of Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gail was an active member of the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church. Gail wore many hats in the church and was never afraid to step up and help where she was needed. Gail’s passion was in raising Christian children and in spreading the Good News of Jesus wherever she was and no matter how she felt. On Wednesday, December 28 from 6pm-9pm and Thursday, December 29, 2011from 10am-11am, the family will receive friends and family at the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, Berwick Turnpike, East Smithfield, PA. The Celebration of Gail’s Homegoing will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Church at 11am with the Rev. Lynn Ensign officiating. The family is rejoicing in her home-going and anticipating the day they will see her again in Glory. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, East Smithfield. Memorials donations may be directed in memory of Gail to Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, PO Box 10, East Smithfield, PA 18817. Family will provide flowers.
