Obituary of Ray Martz
Ray D. Martz, 67, of Sayre, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He was born on January 8, 1944 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Ward and Sarah Clark Martz.
Ray enjoyed going to and participating in tractor pulls, and flea markets. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ray owned and operated a Deer Processing Business for many years.
He is predeceased by his wife Donna in 2010, great-grandson James Lynch, infant sister Patty Martz, brother Gilbert, brothers-in-law William Spencer and Robert Uhl, and mother-in-law Marion Uhl.
Ray is survived by his children Chuck Martz (Monique Barrineau) of Sayre, PA, David and Phyllis (Ackley) Martz of Sayre, PA, and Lisa and Shane Spinner of Barton, NY, grandchildren Heather Martz (Nicolas LaPlante). Tiffany Lynch (Justen Mitchell), Cassandra Martz (Adam Robets), Andrea Ackley, Kendall Martz (Josh Kelsey), and Connor Martz, great-grandchildren Lucian LaPlante, and Gabriel Robets, sisters Shirley Spencer of Ashland, NY, and Louise LaPlant of Burlington, PA, sisters-in-law Marilyn Martz of Nichols, NY, and Diana Shattuck of Corning, NY, and brothers-in-law John (Christine) Uhl of Waverly, NY, and Fred (Janet) Uhl of VA, special grand nephew Austin Spencer, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2011 at 11am at the Athens Wesleyan Church, Wilawanna Road, Athens, PA with the Rev. David Larson officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Memorial donations may be made in Ray’s memory to: Citizens and Northern Bank, 1827 Elmira Street, Athens, PA for a Trust Fund that has been established to help care for his son Chuck.
