Ruth A. Nelson, 94, of Milan, PA passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro, PA following an extended illness. She was born October 11, 1917 in Manhattan, NY the daughter of the late Phillip and Helen Scheel Krupp Scheel. Ruth graduated from Queens, NY High School at the age of 16, and the NY School of Design as an Interior Designer. She enjoyed oil painting, flower arranging, and gourmet cooking. Ruth was a member of the Towanda Garden Club, and St. John Lutheran Church, Sayre, PA since 1978. She is predeceased by her husband George 2006, grandson Christian August Humble, brother John Scheel, and sister Edith Cordato. Ruth is survived by her children Paul Nelson of Milan, PA and Barbara Nelson of Bayside, NY, grandson Douglas Humble of Bayside, NY and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 11am to 2pm at Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Mowrey from St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, East Smithfield, PA.
