Nancy W. Sladeck, 85, of Athens, PA passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. She was born in Allentown, PA on January 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Mitchell and Annie Dorward Wright. Nancy was a graduate of Sayre High School and the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Tompkins County Community Hospital and Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, retiring in 1985. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Athens and also a member of the Athens Senior Citizens. Nancy was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was predeceased by husband Joseph F. Sladeck (1994) and her beloved cat, Baby. Nancy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Lisa (Sladeck) and Dean Stroud of Brentwood, CA and Frances (Sladeck) and James Bergeson of Dove Canyon, CA, and granddaughters Xyline, Kimberly, Andrea, Danielle, along with several cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA.
