Eleanor W. Ellers, 93, of Sayre, PA passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Oakland Assisted Living, Sykesville, MD. She was born on January 10, 1921 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late John and Lucy Sluyter Waring. Eleanor was a member of the Sayre Christian Church. She graduated from Sayre High School, Class of 1939. She worked for W.T. Grants in Sayre and The New York Store. Eleanor loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed travelling. She is predeceased by her husband Bertram Ellers, sisters Jeanne W. Jones, Marguerite Waring, and Marjorie Waring, brothers Grover Travis and Leon Travis, and brother-in-law George E. Jones. Eleanor is survived by her nieces JoAnn (David) Shifflett of Sykesville, MD and Kim (Ken) Bentley of South Waverly, PA, great nieces Lindsay Shifflett (Matthew) Morena of Beverly, MA, and Cherie (Joel) Hunt and family of South Waverly, PA, great-nephews Brandon (Mindy) Shifflett and their son Mason of Sykesville, MD and Ken (Sheila) Bentley and family of South Waverly, PA, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Kevin Arensman of the Sayre Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA at the convenience of the family.
