Obituary of Lyle Dykins
Lyle E. Dykins, 80, of Sayre, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Towanda Skilled Nursing Unit following an extended illness.
He was born on June 16, 1933 in Elmira Heights, NY, the son of the late Fred and Gladys Dykins.
Lyle retired as a Correction Officer from the Chemung County Sheriff's Department. He was a lifetime member of the Chemung Fire Department, having been a member for over 50 years and a member of the Waverly American Legion.
He is predeceased by his brother James and sister Eleanor.
Lyle is survived by his first wife Nancy Dykins of Waverly, NY, son and daughter -in-law Charles and Kristan Dykins of Sayre, PA, 3 granddaughters Holly Dykins serving in the Navy at Gulfport, MS, and Annamarie and Cloe Dykins of Sayre, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 2pm-4pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the Funeral Home at 4pm with FFC Chaplain Linda Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY.
