Donald E. Foster 89, of Sayre, PA went home to be with His Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA following a brief illness. He was born on August 23, 1924 in Waverly, NY, the son of the late Ely and Amanda Doane Foster. Donald was a longtime member of the Sayre Christian Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Donald worked as a Machinist at the Ingersoll-Rand, Athens Foundry, retiring in that position. He was a kind and gentle man with a deep Christian faith. Donald enjoyed golfing, fishing, and painting. Donald is predeceased by his first wife Jean Smith Foster, second wife Shirley Betz Welty Foster, son John Foster, two sisters Gertrude Foster Walker and Dorothy Foster Morris, and a brother Robert Foster. Donald is survived by his daughter-in-law Jean Foster , grandchildren Susan Flynn and Ken and Dana Foster, great-grandchildren Ryan and Ethan Flynn and Sophia and Olivia Foster, all of Clarks Summit, PA, brother Louis Foster of FL, sister-in-law Betty Smith Evans of Sayre, PA, his extended family Richard and Loretta Welty of Sayre, their children Marlies Welty of Biloxi, MS, Heather Welty of Sweden, Lisa and Aaron Wakely and son Alex Simons of Athens, PA, several nieces, nephews, and cousins . Friends and family may call on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 11am-12pm at the Sayre Christian Church, 427 South Keystone Ave., Sayre, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Church at 12pm with the Rev. Kevin Arensman and the Rev. James Donahoo co-officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens PA.
