Robert J. "Bob" Bean, of Athens, PA passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at home following a brief illness. He was born on March 27, 1936 in Sayre, PA the son of the late George and Grace Chamberlain Bean. Bob loved to snowmobile and four-wheeling. He worked as an Iron Worker for 30 years retiring in 1992. Bob worked for the local Catholic churches until the present. He was a volunteer fireman for Athens Fire Department for many years and served in the US Coast Guard from 1955-1959. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Richard and William Bean. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 53 years at home; children Cindy Spezialetti of Waverly, NY, David Bean of Athens, PA and Brian and Mary Bean of Athens, PA; grandchildren Alicia Spezialetti of Reston, VA, Dominic Spezialetti of Waverly, NY, Chad Bean of Lemoore, CA and Tonya Bean of Ft. Stewart, GA; brother Jim and Nancy Bean and a father in law Joseph Bogutski; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 6-8:00pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 1:00pm with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.
