Obituary of Robert Howard
Robert W. Howard, 94, of Athens, PA passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, following an extended illness.
He was born on March 1, 1920 in Monroeton, PA the son of the late Corliss and Sara Florence Howard.
Robert was a Veteran of WWII, serving as a Master Sergeant on General MacArthur’s staff in the Pacific Theatre. He attended the Sayre Christian Church. Robert worked various jobs, including being a Fuller Brush Salesman but mainly he worked as a Machinist for the Ingersoll Rand, Athens Foundry, retiring in 1985. Robert was a member of the Skiff-Bower Post 1536 V.F.W. and a social member of the Roma Madre Lodge of the Sons of Italy.
He is predeceased by his wife of 40 years Alberta in 1997, sister Pauline Edgeman, and brothers Corliss "Corky" and Guy Howard.
Robert is survived by his son Leslie Howard of Philadelphia, PA, sisters-in-law Shirley Howard of Dumfries, VA and Leola Redman of Sayre, PA, and nephews Ed (Beth) Redman of Wellsburg, NY, Patrick Howard of Ashburn, VA, and Rob Redman of Ithaca, NY.
Friends and family may call on Friday, March 14, 2013 from 1pm-2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the Funeral Home at 2pm with the Rev. James Donahoo officiating.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
