Obituary of Virginia Witmer
Virginia M. Witmer, 87, of Waverly, NY, went to be with her loving husband, Fritz, on Monday, April 7, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 21, 1926 in Shamokin, PA the daughter of the late Bernard and Helen Hoffman.
Virginia was a graduate of Coal Township High School, Class of 1944.She loved to knit and crochet and made many sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Virginia enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.
She is predeceased by her husband Fritz Witmer, brother Jack Hoffman, grandson Justin Decker, great-granddaughter Allison Frisbie, and great-granddaughter Sara Strope.
Virginia is survived by her children Sherry and Larry Frisbie of Sayre, PA, Jan Strope of Athens, PA, Kim Witmer of Waverly, NY, Lynne and Greg Lane of Sayre, PA, and Jill and Jim Lastufka of Waverly, NY,7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister Jean Clews of Shamokin, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11am at the Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
