Matthew C. "Matt" Barrett, 29, of S. Waverly, PA passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at home. He was born October 3, 1981 in Sayre, PA the son of Richard and Lorie Bentley Douglas. Matt loved his son Dominic and girlfriend Cheryl. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and music. Matt loved his dog Blue; he also enjoyed watching the New York Giants, New York Knicks, Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame University. His wonderful sense of humor was evident when he was doing impersonations. Matt had a great love for children. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Jean Bentley. He is survived by his son Dominic Matthew Barrett of Endicott, NY, girlfriend and the mother of his child Cheryl Schuerch of Endicott, NY, parents Lorie and Richard Douglas of S. Waverly, PA, sister Tara Burnett of Pittston, PA, brother Tyler Barrett of S. Waverly, PA along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins Family and friends may call Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00PM at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Matt’s memory to the local D.A.R.E program.
