I miss Don's cheerful and thoughtful face at the Carantouan dinners, and his bird sightings he so generously shared with me.

My mom passed in 1979 and Mr. Riker was my guidance counselor at Athens Area High School. Everyday I would go see him. Everyday he would make sure he made the time to speak w me. If it wasn't for him, I may not be here today. He truely was my guardian angel. I will NEVER forget him. I am glad to have known such a beautiful person.

Linda, I wish to send my condolence to Rike's passing. I could not make it to the services at church but my thoughts where with you. I kept passing your mother's house and there where always a lot of cars the past few weeks and I thought your mother was not doing well. One day I saw your mother driving up Laurel Hill and that was when I called Jen Smith and found out about Rike. Again, I am sure all is well and you had a lot of family and friends to share his life. Yours, Chuck Campbell

Dear Linda and Donnie, It was only in the last 25 years that I had an acquaintanceship with Don Riker but one thing was obvious: here was a whole and complete human being. Everything that Don did reflected his evolved values. He lived them. It must be wonderful to contemplate the years you spent as a family with such a fine man. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Dear Linda, I was so saddened to hear that Mr. Riker passed away. He was so great at his job. He was always smiling! He called my college for me, when I was a senior. He had such a high level of professionalism! He was an excellent guidance counselor. I was very shy in those days, yet I always felt confident in his presence. Athens Area school district was very lucky to have him in their employment. Now, you and Donald, your son are in my thoughts. Hold on tight to your memories. Love is stronger than death. We are holding you up in prayer. With sincere sympathy, THE LOVES Walt & Margo (Athens class of '73)

I am new at this so don't know if my message that I just entered took, but in case it didn't here it is again. I am very sorry when I heard of Don's death. He was a very nice person. I remember him at the Athens High School as a guidance counselor because he helped one of my children out and also I knew him being married to Linda as I know the family. I did not know that he was on the council during the time of the 1972 flood. I know there was a lot to do and I appreciate anything he might have done, cause I was one of the victims of that flood. Please know that my heart goes out to all the family and I know he will be missed. Love, Betty Saxon
