Jesse A. Harris, Sr., 79, of South Waverly, PA passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following an extended illness. He was born on August 1, 1934 in Charleston Township, Tioga County, PA the son of the late Albert W. and Louise Mae Bockus Harris. Jesse enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family at the lake. He was Assistant Chief and later elected Chief of the South Waverly Fire Department. He was also a member of the Sayre Fire Department Ambulance Corps where he was elected Captain and was also a Lifetime member of GVEMS. He is predeceased his parents, sister Madeline Aldridge and a great great grandson Chance Sutton. Jesse is survived by wife Louise of 60 years at home; Children Jesse Jr. and Denice Harris of South Waverly, PA, Norma and Tim, Sr. Cahill of Athens Township, Brenda and David Johnston of Athens, PA and Greg Layton of Apalachin, NY. Grandchildren Jamie (Charles) Johnston, Tim (Shannon) Cahill, Jr., Daven (Jason) Darrow, Jennifer (Glen) Harris, Amy (William) Baker, Shannon (David) Baker and Joseph Cahill. Great Grandchildren Bethany, Dakota, Jalyn, Harley, Cassidy, Wyatt, Nathan, James, Rebecca, Zachary, Brooke, Emmalyn and great great grandson Zayne. Siblings Rosemarie & Gordon Williams, Phyllis Flikkema, and Robert (Donna) Harris. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 1-2:00pm at the Crossroads Family Ministries Church, 353 Fulton St. South Waverly, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor James Fox and Pastor Tyson Wahl officiating. The family is being assisted by Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
