Maryalice Green, 85, of South Waverly, PA went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014 peacefully at home. She was born on July 14, 1928 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Wilmer and Myrtle Irons Mowry. Maryalice started with her husband, the Rev. Donald Green, the Keystone Baptist Church in South Waverly, PA in 1954, and she was active in many of the church ministries. Together in 1976 they began the Keystone Christian Academy. She served as the Secretary and a Teacher at the school. In 1988, they retired to Florida. Maryalice was a prayer warrior who served her Lord every day, and was faithful to reading and living by God’s Word. She was an expert seamstress, making her husband’s suits, her children’s clothing, her daughters’ wedding gowns, and sewing for many people throughout the Valley. Maryalice also enjoyed quilting. She is predeceased by her husband the Rev. Donald Green in March, 2004 and her twin grandsons Jason and Jeffrey Ferguson, daughter-in-law Cindy Green, and brother-in-law William Faber. Maryalice is survived by her children Kelly and Everett Gorsline of Athens, PA, Karen Ferguson of Colorado Springs, CO, Donald and Vicki Green of Lusby, MD, David Green of Sayre, PA, John Green of Sayre, PA, Danielle Miller of South Waverly, PA, and Norma Brown of Evington, VA, 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, sister Wilma Faber of Tulsa, OK, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 2pm-3pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 3pm with Maryalice’s grandson the Rev. John Green of Cornerstone Church of Clarion officiating. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY at the convenience of the family.
